Vintage handmade rearing stallion horse figurine that is beautifully glazed in green, teal, blue & black.
Blue Mountain Pottery began back in 1947 in Canada and closed in 2004. When a group of skilled craftsmen pooled their skills and resources and began experimenting with the rich red clay of Ontario Georgian Bay region. It went on to produce various types of pottery, from red clay animal figurines to jugs, pots and vases. The early work used a flow glaze technique, the blue/green shade reportedly an attempt to mimic the colour of Blue Mountain Under the heat and drip glaze they produced a variegated pattern. No batch was entirely the same because they reacted differently. The items had an individuality about them. You’re really buying a piece of Blue Mountain.
